Pitch it to me: Connecting with Media Influencers

November 9, 2006

One of the biggest challenges technology companies face is learning how tell their stories in a way that causes an "a-ha" moment for media influencers, including journalists and industry analysts. It's been proven time and time again: media coverage often drives sales. The key to getting good media coverage is in capturing the attention of today's top journalists from the outset of a meeting. What makes a good story, and how can you get in front of your most important media contacts? This panel will answer those questions and many more as business and technology media influencers from Southern California gather to discuss how they develop stories and how you can be a part of them.

By popular demand, the evening will feature an interactive Pitch Session with the panel. A few attendees will be selected to present a 90-second pitch idea to the journalists for their instant feedback. Some lucky companies may even walk away with a feature on their technology! Don't miss this special evening of interaction with Southern California's finest journalists.

Topics we will cover:

  • What topics are driving media today?
  • How can executives best prepare for media interviews?
  • How much do customer references matter?
  • What makes stories stand out for reporters?
  • What's the best advice a journalist can offer an emerging company?

  • Dan Cox, Reporter, Los Angeles Business Journal
  • Brian Deagon, Technology Reporter, Investor's Business Daily
