Web 2.0 - Implications for Your Business

Web 2.0 points to some incredibly significant trends that are rapidly changing the technology landscape for businesses. These include Software as a Service (SaaS), Rich Internet Applications (AJAX), Lightweight Integration Protocols (REST, RSS), Social Computing and Collaboration (Wikis, Blogs, Tagging), and others. All of this points to a shift in how businesses will operate and how you need to think about software and services. This is an important topic to business technology executives, technology managers, entrepreneurs and technology investors.

The TCOSC and AITP are holding a half-day conference focused on the trends around Web 2.0. This conference will provide a variety of perspectives on the emerging implications for how business will be conducted and technology will be used.

Elizabeth Cholawsky, SVP, Consumer Experience of Move.com (formerly Homestore.com)
Elizabeth Cholawsky brings 20 years of strategic and operational experience in Internet and telecommunications companies, both startup a
y of Minnesota, and B.A. Cum Laude at Franklin and Marshall College. nd public.

Elizabeth is currently Senior VP of Consumer Experience at Move, Inc., the largest real estate presence online. Previously she was Senior VP of Marketing and Product Development at Commission Junction, a pioneer and leader in affiliate marketing, later acquired by ValueClick. In the telecommunications/VOIP space, including Clarent, she headed up divisions of Product Management, Professional Services and Marketing. She also held managerial and technical positions in speech recognition and artificial intelligence startups, following on from early work as quantitative analyst at the CIA. Elizabeth gained her Ph.D. in statistics and political science at the University.

David Curtis, CTO of Palomar Ventures
David Curtis is the Chief Technology Officer of Palomar Ventures, a Southern California VC focusing on early stage information technology companies. David brings to Palomar his deep experience as a software architect, entrepreneur, and technology investor, and a legacy as one of the pioneers of distributed object computing.

As a founder and CTO of Expersoft, David designed one of the first distributed object platforms to be used in enterprise IT systems. He was an active contributor to the Object Management Group which included authoring several major components of CORBA. David also served as

Director of Enterprise Systems at Inprise/Borland, and more recently as the founder and CTO of XMology Corporation, where he created a rule-based logic engine for processing XML data. David's expertise and experience comprises a variety of disciplines, including distributed simulation, knowledge-based systems, real-time systems, parallel processing architectures, and distributed enterprise computing.

Matthew Glotzbach, Head of Products of Google Enterprise
Matthew Glotzbach joined Google in 2004 with responsibility for the development, management, and markeitng of Google's Enterprise product lines. He brings 10 years of enterprise product management, marketing, and sales experience to the team specializing in the unique business and technology needs of enterprise customers. Prior to joining Google, Matthew was a senior member of the management team for the Computer Industry Business Unit at Trilogy, an enterprise software company based out of Austin, TX. He was involved with the creation of Trilogy's product direction and vision and acted as the lead product manager on a number of Trilogy's industry solutions. Mr. Glotzbach holds a Bachelor degree from Cornell University.

Mark Goldin, Chief Information Officer & EVP Operations of Green Dot
Mark Goldin heads all software development, technology and operations at Green Dot Corporation. Prior to joining Green Dot Corporation, Mark was Chief Technology Officer for Thomson Elite and was the founder & president of Elite Online Solutions. Mark has an extensive background in operating systems and databases and has worked in the computer and software industry in the US and overseas since 1983.
Green Dot Corporation is a pioneer in prepaid financial products and services and is America's first and largest provider of association-branded prepaid debit cards sold at retail stores. It is also the owner and operator of the Green Dot Financial Network, one of America's largest retail-based cash acceptance networks.

Michael Platt, Web Architect, Architecture Strategy Team, Microsoft
Michael Platt is a Web Architect in the architecture strategy group at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond. He has extensive experience in Architecting Web and Enterprise Applications for large multinational Enterprises. He has been with Microsoft for 12 years in a number of management, strategy, presales and consultancy roles.

Michael has some 30 years of experience in the IT industry with IBM and Microsoft in research, design, development, pre sales and consultancy positions. He has an Honours Degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and a number of published dissertations and patents.

Paul Ryan, CEO of Done Right
With 20+ years of experience developing and managing integrated business systems and technologies, Paul most recently was the CTO of Overture Services, the pioneer in pay-for-performance Internet advertising (recently acquired by Yahoo!). While at Overture, Paul built the largest pay-for-performance search engine on the web, heading the technology team and managing the core technologies and business processes underlying the company's business.

Prior to joining Overture, Paul was CIO for Delray Farms, LLC, a Chicago-based retail startup, where he built the systems and business process infrastructure for a $250 million retail concept. Prior to Delray Farms, Paul spent nearly four years at Deloitte & Touche as a management consultant, and more than four years as a software engineer, project manager, and lead systems designer for DEC.

Paul received a B.S.E. from Princeton University, an M.S. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Rod Smith, VP Internet Emerging Technology of IBM
Rod Smith is an IBM fellow and vice president of Internet Emerging Technology, Software Group. He is a recognized technical leader, both within IBM's software business, as well as across the industry. His team's technological innovations and cross-industry collaborations have enabled the rapid adoption of technologies such as web services, XML, Linux, J2EE, next generation rich user collaboration technology, and wireless applications.
