Judging Criteria
The fifteenth annual Technology Industry Awards will recognize industry leaders and companies that have made extraordinary contributions to the growth of Southern California as a center for technological innovation. The awards will be presented during a gala dinner ceremony at the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on April 30, 2009.
Applicants do not need to be members of the Technology Council of Southern California, but company must be headquartered in the Southern California region. Deadline is Wednesday, March 25, 2009 to submit an application. There is no fee to apply, but attendance at the ceremony is required. We encourage finalists to purchase a company table at the ceremony.

Individual Award Criteria Information
CEO of the Year:
Presented to the CEO/President/Operating head of a technology company headquartered in Southern California that has been in operation at least five years, and receives the highest aggregate ratings in:
- Sales/revenues
- Team building
- Product Innovation
- Profitability and fiscal resourcefulness
- Employee base in Southern California
- Positive effect on the technology industry within the Southern California region
- Special consideration will be given to individuals who demonstrate industry leadership by being involved in:
- Industry trade organizations
- Legislative activities pertinent to the Technology Industry
- Other civic, community involvement
Entrepreneur of the Year:
Presented to the CEO/President/Operating head of a technology company headquartered in Southern California that is an early stage (typically up to five years), and receives the highest aggregate ratings in:
- Sales/revenues
- Team building
- Product innovation
- Fiscal resourcefulness
- Employee base in Southern California
- Positive effect on the technology industry within the Southern California region
- Special consideration will be given to individuals who demonstrate industry leadership by being involved in:
- Industry trade organizations
- Legislative activities pertinent to the Technology Industry
- Other civic, community involvement
Company Award Criteria Information
Software Company of the Year:
Presented to the software company headquartered in Southern California that has been in operation more than three years, and that receives the highest aggregate ratings in:
- Sales/revenues
- Team building
- Product innovation
- Positive effect on the technology industry within the Southern California region
- Special consideration will be given to individuals who demonstrate industry leadership by being involved in:
- Industry trade organizations
- Legislative activities pertinent to the Technology Industry
- Other civic, community involvement
Hardware or Storage Company of the Year:
Presented to the hardware or storage company headquartered in Southern California that has been in operation more than three years, and that receives the highest aggregate ratings in:
- Sales/revenues
- Team building
- Product innovation
- Positive effect on the technology industry within the Southern California region
- Special consideration will be given to individuals who demonstrate industry leadership by being involved in:
- Industry trade organizations
- Legislative activities pertinent to the Technology Industry
- Other civic, community involvement
Internet or New Media Company of the Year:
Presented to the internet or new media company headquartered in Southern California that has been in operation more than three years, and that receives the highest aggregate ratings in:
- Sales/revenues
- Team building
- Product innovation
- Positive effect on the technology industry within the Southern California region
- Special consideration will be given to individuals who demonstrate industry leadership by being involved in:
- Industry trade organizations
- Legislative activities pertinent to the Technology Industry
- Other civic, community involvement
Entertainment or Gaming Company of the Year:
Presented to the entertainment or gaming company headquartered in Southern California that has been in operation more than three years, and that receives the highest aggregate ratings in:
- Sales/revenues
- Team building
- Product innovation
- Positive effect on the technology industry within the Southern California region
- Special consideration will be given to individuals who demonstrate industry leadership by being involved in:
- Industry trade organizations
- Legislative activities pertinent to the Technology Industry
- Other civic, community involvement
Mobile or Communications Company of the Year:
Presented to the mobile or communications company headquartered in Southern California that has been in operation more than three years, and that receives the highest aggregate ratings in:
- Sales/revenues
- Team building
- Product innovation
- Positive effect on the technology industry within the Southern California region
- Special consideration will be given to individuals who demonstrate industry leadership by being involved in:
- Industry trade organizations
- Legislative activities pertinent to the Technology Industry
- Other civic, community involvement
General Rules and Guidelines
1. Applications must be received via email at catrina@tcosc.org no later than Wednesday, March 25, 2009.
2. Employees, sponsors, judges, independent contracts or their immediate family members of the Technology Council of Southern California are ineligible
