Technology Council of Southern California Extends Deadline for Award Nominations to Friday, January 25, 2008
TORRANCE, CALIF. – January 15, 2008 – The Technology Council of Southern California today announced that AlwaysOn Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief Tony Perkins will give the keynote speech at its fourteenth annual Technology Industry Awards, an event recognizing the individuals and companies that have made extraordinary contributions to technology innovation in Southern California. The awards will be presented on February 28, 2008 at the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.
A pioneering media entrepreneur and a prominent opinion leader in the technology business and investment editorial world, Perkins founded Red Herring in 1993 and later predicted the dot-com bust in an international bestselling book, The Internet Bubble: Inside the Overvalued World of High-Tech Stocks (HarperBusiness, 1999). In 2002, Perkins launched AlwaysOn, a highly interactive online network for technology insiders.
Perkins has served as a regular columnist for the Wall Street Journal and as a television commentator for MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” CNN, CNBC, BBC, and Bloomberg Television. He is a member of President George W. Bush’s Information Technology Advisory Council, and he co-founded and chaired Silicon Valley’s premier business and technology forum, the Churchill Club in Palo Alto, California.
For the Technology Industry Awards, Perkins’ keynote is titled, “The Open Media Revolution will not be Televised.”

Call for Nominations Still Open
The nominees for the 2008 event will compete for one of nine awards, two individual categories and seven company categories, as listed below:
Individual Categories:

· Hardware/Storage Company of the Year
· Mobile Communications Company of the Year
· Network/Security Company of the Year
· Internet/New Media Company of the Year
· Entertainment/Gaming Company of the Year
· Software Company of the Year
· Product of the Year
The Technology Council has extended the deadline for award nominations to Friday, January 25, 2008. Applicants do not need to be members of the Technology Council of Southern California, but must be headquartered in the Southern California region.
